Budgets that read like encouragement.
A clear amount left to spend, per-category cards that colour themselves in, and suggested caps drawn from what your household actually spends. Calm, not nagging.
2 minutes to set up · no card · no bank login
- A motivating "left to spend" summary
- On track, almost, or over, per category
- Smart Budgeting suggests better caps
- Apply one or apply all, and it sticks
Start with what is left, not what you blew
The budgets screen leads with the number that helps: how much is left to spend this month, with a ring showing the percentage used. It’s the same tone as the rest of CASHO. You’re being kept informed, not told off.
One card per category, colour-coded
Each category gets its own card, colour-coded on track, almost, or over. You can see at a glance that groceries are fine and eating out is not, which is usually all the information a household needs to change the week.
Smart Budgeting suggests the caps
Setting a budget from scratch is the part everyone gets wrong. Smart Budgeting looks at roughly your last three months of spending and suggests a more realistic monthly cap per category. Apply one, or apply all, and the new caps persist.
- Suggestions are rule-based and deterministic, so there are no surprises.
- You stay in control: nothing changes until you apply it.
- Smart features can be switched off in Settings if you would rather set your own.
The whole household budgets together
Budgets belong to the household, not to one person, so everyone sees the same caps and the same progress. The dashboard budget pulse carries the headline through, showing the percentage used and the categories most at risk before they tip over.
Where the numbers come from
From your household, not from a bank feed. Amounts are handled as exact whole cents behind the scenes, so totals always add up. Any figure you see quoted on this site, like a category cap or a saving, is an example rather than a promise.
How does Smart Budgeting decide a cap?
It reads roughly your last three months of spending in that category and suggests a monthly cap that fits the pattern. The logic is rule-based and deterministic, and nothing changes until you press apply.
Can we budget by category as well as overall?
Yes. There is a household summary showing what is left to spend overall, plus per-category cards marked on track, almost, or over.
Is it free? What will it cost later?
It’s free while in beta, no card needed. A Premium plan (around $7 per household per month) is planned for after beta, and beta users keep the core free.
